Tales of Spice & Flavour - Ch. 4 - Gaia Gathering
"If there's any kind of magic in the world, it must be in the attempt of understanding someone sharing something."
Celine, Before Sunrise
There was magic under the solstice sun at the Gaia Gathering.
I find time tight in December. Everything comes to a close. Deadlines, things to do, people to be with. All pulling me in different directions at once.
They are all wonderful things, but the thoughts scatter. My mind becomes noisy from less moments with myself.
The Gaia Gathering allowed space to zoom out. The pieces came back together. Time to sit, acknowledge the thoughts, and let them pass.
Connections within intentions and reflections.
We moved our bodies. Lots.
Shifts
I am currently navigating uncertainty. I left stability and support network to try overseas living.
As loops closed, the celebrations shifted to sadness. I’ve been questioning myself.
‘Why leave when I can grow in stillness?’
‘Will I find what we have here?’
Gaia was my last community outing at home before leaving. The event made me realise that community is everywhere. Home is teaching me to know how to find it and what it feels like.
My first stall
I hosted my first stall!
I showcased my photography and postcards. It was a new experience for me and an edge of taking up space. I enjoyed thinking about how to exhibit the work and the story of the postcards.
The postcards are from dancers around Australia. I had them write in a journal and scanned their notes onto photos I took at festivals. There were leftover pages in the same journal I carried around. The Gaia community shared their thoughts to the same prompt: ‘write something that will help the next person that reads this’.
Below are some love notes from the Gaia Gathering:
